Safety at First Strokes & Returning to your lessons

We are working around the clock to prepare our centres to reopen and can’t wait to hear the happy sounds of our splashing swimmers on the 25th July.

We will be opening on Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th July for general swimming on a booking system. Also, we will be available to catch up with our customers and perhaps a coffee and cake.

Our swimming lessons will resume on Monday 27th July at the same times and days as before.  Please ensure you read this information before you attend.

The safety of our team, children and parents is our priority.  Things may look a little different, but we will continue to provide excellent swimming tuition and a safe swimming environment.  I’m sure that you have all missed the water especially during the hot spells.

Now you can take a dip with the knowledge that we will ensure vigorous cleaning practices and social distancing to the guidelines from the government and Swim England.  We will also monitor and implement any changes as and when they happen.

This means that at this time;

Social distancing

Where possible our teacher will teach from the side and if in the water, we will support the children with long arm support techniques and additional equipment.

We have introduced plastic screens to reception desks and the coffee shops to protect both customers and our team.

We are asking customers to remain at a safe distance apart, in line with the current guidelines.

We will be using child-friendly low-level signage to help distancing throughout our centres.

We will require anyone entering the building to have a temperature check and we will ensure we have a member of our team to carry this out quickly.

We will also have antibacterial hand wash stations which will need to be used on entry.

We request all customers to come along to lessons with as few members of their family as necessary. If you are visiting our centre with a person that is not on our data base you will be asked to give a name and contact.

Cleaning

All our centres have undergone stringent deep cleaning and we have put in place procedures to maintain a clean and sanitised area for all our swimmers.

Hand sanitising stations will be installed for use at the entrance of each centre.

Additional staff to ensure cleaning is carried out at each change of class to prepare for the next class.

Additional training has been undertaken by all our staff to ensure they are able to be responsible for cleaning and sanitising around the whole centre.

Our team will work together to provide a safe environment for their team and our customers.

Personal Protection

We advise that face coverings should be worn in the changing areas and viewing room. This is highly recommended for any vulnerable people.

Under NO circumstances can masks be worn in the pool.

What will be available at First Strokes

Our timetables will be adapted to ensure that primarily we can offer swimming tuition to all our swimmers.

Booking will be required for Just Swim session, with an undertaking that public swimmers keep to the swimming rules.

Your Swimming Lessons

We ask all our swimmers to come to their lessons changed in their swim wear to reduce time in the changing areas and to arrive 5 minutes before their lesson begins.

Children are asked to line up on the fun feet to wait until their lessons commence (parents are able to wait with their child).

They will enter the pool and sit on the poolside bench (parents must then leave and return to the viewing room).

After the lesson children will go straight through to the shower area where they can meet their parents.

They will be allowed a maximum of 15 minutes for children to quickly shower and get dressed before the next class enter the changing areas.

Swimming Payments

Up until now your payments for lessons have been frozen and as of Monday 27th July 2020, we will be taking payments as usual once again.

You will be able to look at your current balance at myfirststrokes.

Just Swim – Public Swimmers

Just swim members will be asked to book in advance for their swim and spaces will be limited.

Public swimmers are asked to keep a two-meter distance whilst swimming and pay particular attention to the directional signage.

We will bring back the fun and sunshine to all our swimmers. Helping preserve wellness, health and a positive balance in life. Swimming begins here.

The First Strokes Team.
